Based in New Jersey, Kathleen Murphy, M.D., treats patients with urological conditions, such as bladder carcinoma, kidney stones, and urinary tract infections. Employing a patient-friendly approach, Dr. Murphy’s practice includes three New Jersey locations: Rahway, Summit, and Westfield. To prepare for her career in medicine, Kathleen Murphy, M.D., studied extensively and earned multiple degrees. As an undergraduate, she attended Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, where she conducted basic science research on how hormones affect sexual behavior and where she graduated with honors. Subsequently, Kathleen Murphy enrolled in Georgetown University School of Medicine and after two years, she transferred to the State University of New York at Downstate Medical Center, where she completed her M.D. with honors. She then moved to Philadelphia and completed her residency in urology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Kathleen Murphy monitors developments in urology through continuing education courses and through her involvement in a number of professional organizations, including the Society for Urodynamics and Female Urology, the American Urological Association, and the Society of Women in Urology. In recognition of her accomplishments in research, Dr. Murphy has received several awards from the Mid-Atlantic Section of the American Urological Association.Passionate about helping others, Kathleen Murphy, M.D., supports a number of charitable organizations, including those that focus on breast cancer and autism research. A long distance runner, she also trains regularly for triathlons.
